Water
Sisters
This work was created in response to ‘Lochs’ by Shanine Gallagher, a short film that effortlessly evokes a sense of togetherness, connectedness and nostalgia.
It explores the strength, support and joy that exists between a group of women who go wild swimming together; rain or shine, all year round. It seeks to capture their vulnerability and bravery; playfulness and curiosity; empowerment, freedom and gentle rebellion.
“these women are an important space for me in life,
they are like the water;
a safe space.
a risky, fun, exploratory space.
a push-your-limits space.
always knowing you can paddle back to the shore
or there'll be an outstretched hand ready to pull you back when you go too far
or you're suddenly afraid and out of your depth;
in life,
and in the water.”
